The portrait is rendered in the vigorous Hellenistic style, with finely modelled curling locks visible beneath the pelt, a strong brow, and well-defined facial features. The coin's broad, slightly irregular flan is characteristic of posthumous Alexandrine issues struck at provincial mints. |

In the left field, above Zeus's lap, appear two monograms serving as mint or magistrate control marks. To the far left, a vine-tendril bearing a bunch of grapes curls around an oenochoe (wine jug) facing right, serving as an additional control symbol. The principal legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander. |
