He extends his right arm forward to support a perched eagle with open wings, while his left hand grasps a long scepter upright. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field. A control symbol, identified as a torch or kantharos, appears in the left field below the eagle, and a monogram or letter (kappa) is visible beneath the throne in the exergue. The composition reflects the canonical reverse type established under Alexander III and continued throughout the posthumous coinage. |
