Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless and wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp tied beneath the chin with the paws knotted at the throat. The portrait is rendered in fine Hellenistic style with curling locks emerging beneath the lion's mane, naturalistic facial features, and a prominent ear visible in profile. The flan is irregular and slightly grainy in surface texture, consistent with late fourth-century to early third-century BC Macedonian coinage struck in the name of Alexander III.
