| Descrizione del dritto | Right-facing head of the deified Herakles in three-quarter relief, wearing the lion's scalp headdress with the gaping jaws resting atop the crown of the head and the paws knotted at the throat. The bold, youthful features — strong brow, broad nose, and slightly parted lips — are rendered in the high Classical to early Hellenistic style characteristic of the Alexandrine monetary tradition. The mane of the lion's skin falls naturalistically around the neck and shoulders, framing the face with deeply engraved striations. The field is plain and uninscribed, the flan exhibiting the characteristic irregular edges of a hand-struck ancient coin. |
