Obverse description Youthful head of the hero Heracles facing right, portrayed beardless with idealized features in the Lysippan tradition, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, its jaws framing the crown of the head and the knotted forepaws visible at the neck. The high-relief modelling displays finely rendered hair curling beneath the lion-skin headdress, with a prominent brow, almond-shaped eye, straight nose, and slightly parted lips characteristic of early Macedonian coinage from the Amphipolis mint. The field is plain, with no legend or inscription on the obverse.
