| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left upon a backless throne, his upper body nude and his lower body draped, holding an eagle with spread wings on his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre in his raised left hand. The reverse legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs to the right and below the throne, identifying the coin as issued in the name of King Alexander. A Phrygian helmet facing right appears as a mint control symbol in the left field, serving as the key diagnostic for the Price 112 issue of the Amphipolis mint during the earliest posthumous or terminal regal period. |
