Obverse description Youthful bare head of the deified Heracles in right-facing profile, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, with the beast's muzzle drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The facial features are rendered in fine Hellenistic style, with a sensitively modelled brow, almond-shaped eye, and slightly parted lips. The lion's pelt is articulated with bold, deeply cut striations across the mane, framing the face in high relief against a plain field.
