| Descrizione del dritto | Head of Herakles facing right, wearing the lion skin headdress, the scalp tied beneath the chin with the forepaws knotted at the throat. The facial features are rendered with fine Hellenistic naturalism, displaying a youthful countenance with a strong jaw and full lips. The lion's mane cascades elaborately behind the head, its finely engraved striations conveying texture and volume. No legend appears on the obverse; the design fills the flan within a plain border. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a high-backed throne, his torso bare, lower body draped in a himation. In his outstretched right hand he holds an eagle facing right, while his left hand rests upon a long sceptre. The throne is rendered with elaborate detail, showing turned legs and a footstool beneath the god's feet. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to the right and ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ to the left frame the central type within a dotted border. A monogram (ΛΜ) appears to the left of the throne in the field, serving as a mint control mark for the Amphipolis issue. |
