Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a high-backed throne, his torso bare, lower body draped in a himation. In his outstretched right hand he holds an eagle facing right, while his left hand rests upon a long sceptre. The throne is rendered with elaborate detail, showing turned legs and a footstool beneath the god's feet. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to the right and ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ to the left frame the central type within a dotted border. A monogram (ΛΜ) appears to the left of the throne in the field, serving as a mint control mark for the Amphipolis issue.
