| Obverse description | Youthful, beardless head of Heracles facing right, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion worn as a headdress, the gaping jaws resting atop the hero's crown and the forepaws knotted loosely at the neck. The bold, high-relief portrait displays deeply modelled curling hair visible beneath the lion skin, with finely rendered facial features characteristic of the Lysimachan artistic tradition as transmitted to Pontic workshops. The field is otherwise plain, and no legend appears on the obverse. |
