| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low backless throne, his right arm outstretched and supporting an eagle, his left hand grasping a tall sceptre. The reverse legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs to the right and left of the seated figure. In the outer left field, a Corinthian helmet is placed above a monogram, serving as the mint control symbol identifying the issue to Mesembria. The composition follows the canonical posthumous Alexander type with competent, if provincial, die-cutting. |
