Perge was among several Pamphylian cities that continued striking posthumous Alexanders well into the second century BC, long after the Macedonian kingdom itself had fractured beyond recovery. This issue dates to a narrow window when the region was passing between Seleucid and Pergamene influence following the Battle of Magnesia in 190 BC — though these particular dies predate that shift by less than a decade, struck while the Seleucid grip on southern Anatolia still held.

The Colin Perge sequence places this among the earlier controlled emissions from the city's mint, distinguished from later issues by subtle die characteristics catalogued by Müller at #1239.
