| Descrizione del dritto | Youthful head of Herakles facing right, depicted in three-quarter relief, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp tied beneath the chin with the forepaws knotted at the throat. The modelling of the face is vigorous and idealized, characteristic of the Lysippan artistic tradition associated with Alexander's official portraiture. The flan is slightly irregular, with no encircling legend, the design filling the field to the borders. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a high-backed throne, his body nude to the waist, a himation draped over his lower limbs. He holds a long sceptre in his left hand and extends his right hand, upon which perches an eagle with closed wings. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field. In the left field, the letter A with a pellet appears as a mint control mark, and below the throne a small seated figure serves as an additional symbol. Beneath the throne, a monogram within an incuse square (monogram of the Amphipolis mint) appears in the exergual area, framed by a linear border with dotted inner circle. |
