| Beschrijving voorzijde | Head of the deified Herakles facing right, clad in the Nemean lion's scalp headdress, the lion's mane rendered in flowing curls across the forehead and cascading behind the neck. The facial features display the idealized Lysippan portrait type associated with Alexander the Great, with a strong aquiline nose and slightly parted lips. The die-work is robust and characteristic of the post-Alexandrine Thracian mint tradition, with the lion's skin knotted beneath the chin. No legend appears on the obverse. |
