To the left of the central device, a Boeotian shield is depicted accompanied by two pellets. The entire composition is set within a shallow incuse square, a technique typical of early Thracian coinage. The legend reading HPO BOY ΛOΣ identifies the issuing magistrate Heroboulos, whose name is divided across the field in the customary manner of Maroneian tetradrachms. |
