Tetradrachm - Eunikos

Antioch ad Maeandrum was a small Lydian city whose autonomous coinage was struck in the shadow of Rome's reorganization of Asia following the defeat of Mithridates VI. The magistrate name Eunikos places this issue within a civic series produced while the city navigated the political disruptions of the First Mithridatic War and its aftermath — a period when many Asian mints temporarily ceased production entirely. That Antioch continued striking at tetradrachm weight during these decades reflects a degree of local commercial continuity unusual for a city of its modest standing.
