| Beschrijving voorzijde | Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless and rendered with flowing, deeply engraved curls framing the face and neck. The hero is clad in the lion skin headdress, with the scalp knotted beneath the chin and the beast's mane cascading over the crown in the canonical Alexandrine tradition. The portrait is boldly modelled in high relief, with finely articulated facial features characteristic of skilled Hellenistic die engraving. The field is plain and unlettered, with the design filling the flan in the manner typical of posthumous Chian issues struck in the name of Alexander III. |
