The magistrate's name is inscribed in Greek letters around the incuse square, reading EΠI ΔEONYΔOΣ, identifying the eponymous magistrate responsible for this issue. The lettering is distributed across the border of the incuse, with syllable breaks arranged to fill the available space. The overall composition reflects the transitional incuse technique characteristic of fifth-century Abdera tetradrachms. |
