| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed head of Demetrius I Poliorcetes facing right, adorned with a bull's horn rising from the diadem above the forehead, an attribute symbolizing his divine association with Poseidon. The hair is rendered in richly modelled, flowing locks swept back from the forehead and cascading behind the neck in the Hellenistic portrait tradition. The facial features are sharply delineated with a strong profile, prominent nose, and short beard, reflecting the idealized yet individualistic portraiture characteristic of early Hellenistic royal coinage. No legend appears on the obverse; the field is plain. |
