The effigy displays characteristically sharp facial features with a prominent nose and chin, the hair elaborately dressed and bound with a royal diadem. The portrait is executed in moderately high relief on a broad flan, typical of Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage of the period. A sceptre or palm frond appears to the right of the eagle, with a monogram or control mark visible in the left field. The encircling Greek legend identifies the issuing authority and regnal year. The overall design follows the established iconographic tradition of Ptolemaic silver coinage originating with Ptolemy I. |
