Obverse description Bust of Ardashir I facing right, wearing a Parthian-style kulah headdress edged with two rows of pearls and surmounted by a central six-pointed star ornament composed of pearls. The hair is covered by a bashlyk trimmed with pearls, and ribboned bows flow outward from the sides of the kulah. A necklace of two hooped strands encircles the king's neck. The portrait is rendered in the late Parthian artistic tradition and is enclosed by a beaded border.
