Side was one of the most commercially active ports on the Pamphylian coast, and its silver tetradrachms circulated well beyond the city's own harbor trade — hoards containing Side issues have turned up across the eastern Mediterranean, mixed with Seleucid and Ptolemaic coinage, reflecting just how deeply the city was embedded in regional commerce during the second century BC. The city maintained effective monetary autonomy even as Seleucid, then Attalid, then Roman influence swept through southern Anatolia.
The Aulock 4792 reference places this among the later die groupings in the series, a period when the magistrate names appearing on the coinage become more densely documented by epigraphy.
