The portraiture reflects the influence of the Syracusan engraving tradition. |

| Popis rubu | The eponymous hero Aigestes (Acestes) depicted nude and standing in a dynamic three-quarter pose, hunting a boar which rushes toward the lower left. The hero grasps the animal and raises a spear in his right hand, his chlamys billowing behind him; a hound leaps at the boar from the lower field. The scene is rendered with vigorous naturalism characteristic of Sicilian die-engraving of the early fourth century BC. The ethnic legend ΕΓΕΣΤΑΙΩΝ is partially visible in the field to the left. |
