| Obverse description | Laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in the fine Early Classical style characteristic of Sicilian coinage. The deity is depicted with youthful, idealised features, prominent profile, and parted lips. The hair is elaborately arranged in wavy, tightly curled locks at the temple and brow, swept back beneath a large, naturalistic laurel wreath whose leaves radiate prominently across the field. The high-relief modelling of the face and wreath is indicative of the accomplished die-engraving tradition of Leontinoi. |

| Reverse description | Head of a lion facing right with open jaws and protruding tongue, a powerful emblem of the city of Leontinoi, centrally placed within a square incuse. Four barley or grain kernels are arranged symmetrically in the angles surrounding the lion's head, referencing the agricultural prosperity of the region. The ethnic legend LEONTINON is inscribed in Greek characters around the design, divided across the field. The overall composition reflects the bold, emblematic reverse type characteristic of Sicilian tetradrachms of the mid-fifth century BC. |
