These Dacian tetradrachms are imitative coinage derived from Macedonian prototypes, most likely Philip II types transmitted through the Celtic intermediary tradition before reaching Transylvanian workshops. The stylistic degeneration was intentional to a degree — local moneyers adapted forms for regional recognition rather than attempting faithful reproduction. Weight standards drifted considerably across the series, and at 7.17g this piece sits below the original Attic standard, consistent with a known pattern of progressive debasement as the types moved further from their Macedonian source.
