The Greek legend ΘΕΩΝ ΚΑΒΕΙΡΩΝ ΣΥΡΙΩΝ is inscribed on three sides of the central panel, reading vertically on the left and right and horizontally along the bottom, denoting 'of the Syrian Kabeiroi gods.' The composition reflects the strong religious identity of the Kabeiroi cult on Syros during the Hellenistic period. |
