| 背面描述 | A club, symbol of Herakles, shown horizontally to the left and set within a wreath of oak leaves that encircles the entire reverse field. The ethnic legend KYZI above and KHNΩN below, divided across the field, identifies the issuing city of Kyzikos. Monograms appear at the upper and lower portions of the field, serving as magistrate or mint control marks. The composition is well-balanced, with the oak wreath framing all design elements in a manner typical of late Hellenistic civic coinage from Mysia. |

Kyzikos, the prosperous Propontis city on the southern shore of the Marmara, maintained an unusually active mint through the Hellenistic period — in part because its strategic position made it a transit point for silver flowing between the Black Sea and the Aegean. The cistophoric-weight tetradrachms attributed to this period sit within a broader regional coinage tradition that saw several western Anatolian cities adopting compatible weight standards to facilitate trade across Pergamene-dominated territory.
Von Fritze's 1912 classification of Kyzikene silver remains the foundational reference, though subsequent SNG work has refined the die groupings considerably.
