Kota Kula was among the small Indo-Greek successor principalities operating in the Kabul Valley and adjacent regions during the mid-first millennium, issuing coinage that blended Hellenistic monetary conventions with local iconographic and metallurgical traditions. The designation "tetradrachm" here reflects inherited nomenclature rather than any surviving connection to silver Attic weight standards — by this period, the term had become functionally detached from its original meaning across much of the region.
