The naturalistic treatment of the musculature and fur demonstrates the refined artistic style characteristic of late fourth-century BC Magna Graecia coinage. The head occupies nearly the entire field of the flan, with no legend or inscription present on this side. |

To the right in the field appears the monogram YE, serving as a magistrate's or mint official's mark.
