| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two serpents intertwined in a coiling pattern at the center of the field, rising from the base of the design and extending outward in a cruciform arrangement, evoking the sacred serpents associated with the Pergamene cult. To the left, a Macedonian-style caduceus or bow-case symbol appears in the left field, and to the right a serpent-entwined staff or thyrsus-like symbol. The Greek legend AΣ appears above the serpents, referencing the city ethnic of Pergamon. The reverse design is characteristic of the cistophoric tetradrachm series issued by the city of Pergamon. |
