Další informace	Tigranes II came to the Armenian throne in 95 BC after spending time as a hostage at the Parthian court — a political arrangement that almost certainly shaped his later ambitions. Within a decade he had seized Sophene, pushed into Mesopotamia, and was styling himself "King of Kings," building a short-lived empire that briefly rivaled Rome in the east. Bronze civic coinage of this type circulated during the early expansion phase, before his grander royal mint productions replaced it. Kovacs 62 is among the scarcer bronzes of the reign, with relatively few die-matched specimens recorded in major collections.
