Reverse description A cista mystica — the sacred chest of Dionysiac mysteries — depicted centrally, its lid partially open to reveal a serpent emerging from within. A panther skin is draped over the left side of the cista, and an upright thyrsos rises to the right. Multiple control monograms are disposed in the field to the left and upper left. The ethnic legend ΔΙΑΣ appears in the lower field below the cista, identifying the issuing city of Dia on the Black Sea coast.
