The portrait exhibits the characteristic lion-like mane and idealized heroic features associated with the Pontic king's coinage, evoking the imagery of Alexander the Great and Herakles. The die work is bold, with strong modeling of the facial features including a prominent brow and fleshy cheeks. The field is plain and unlettered on the obverse. The flan is irregular, typical of provincial bronze coinage of the late Hellenistic period. |
