| Beschrijving voorzijde | Youthful male head facing right, wreathed with a stephane adorned with a cluster of pellets at the crown, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition. The hair is arranged in thick, flowing locks swept back from the forehead and falling in waves behind the neck. The facial features are finely modelled with a straight nose, slightly parted lips, and a well-defined jaw. The portrait is commonly identified as Mithridates VI Eupator of Pontos, assimilated to the god Perseus or Dionysos in the royal iconographic program. The field is plain and unlettered. |
