| Obverse description | Draped and armored bust of Henry II facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and richly decorated cuirass, the king depicted with short curly hair. The effigy is set within a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend surrounding the portrait in the outer field. The hammered flan displays the characteristic irregular planchet typical of mid-16th century French coinage. |

| Reverse description | Central shield of France semé of fleurs-de-lis, surmounted by a royal crown of France. Flanking the shield are two crowned capital letters H, the royal cipher of Henry II, each accompanied by a small crown above. The date 1553 and the mint mark D for Lyon appear integrated within the surrounding legend, which is contained between two beaded circles. The composition reflects the classic Valois heraldic reverse design standard for testons of this reign. |
