| Beschrijving voorzijde | Right-facing bare-headed bust of Henri II, depicted in cuirass with visible armour detailing at the shoulder and collar. The effigy is rendered in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of mid-16th century French hammered coinage. A pellet or point appears below the bust in the field, serving as a mint or engraver's mark. The circular legend in Latin reads HENRICVS II D G FRANC REX, running along the coin's border. | Beschrijving keerzijde | Crowned oval shield bearing the royal arms of France (three fleurs-de-lis) occupies the centre of the reverse, flanked on either side by two crowned Gothic H monograms, the royal cipher of Henri II. The crown surmounting the shield is rendered in detail with fleurs-de-lis and arches. A mint-mark letter appears in the base point of the shield, identifying the workshop of issue. The overall composition is symmetrical and heraldic in character, consistent with Valois-era French regal coinage. |
