| Beschrijving voorzijde | Aniconic design composed of multiple concentric circular bands filled with Kufic Arabic legends. The innermost zone features a small central pellet surrounded by a smooth raised ring, from which radiate concentric registers of dense Kufic inscription separated by plain fillets. The lettering is boldly struck in a characteristic South Italian imitative Fatimid style, with the legends arranged in circular fashion reading around the coin. The overall design reflects the hybrid Arabo-Norman monetary tradition of the Principality of Salerno. |
