| Obverse description | Aniconic design composed of multiple concentric circular bands filled with Kufic Arabic legends. The innermost zone features a small central pellet surrounded by a smooth raised ring, from which radiate concentric registers of dense Kufic inscription separated by plain fillets. The lettering is boldly struck in a characteristic South Italian imitative Fatimid style, with the legends arranged in circular fashion reading around the coin. The overall design reflects the hybrid Arabo-Norman monetary tradition of the Principality of Salerno. |

| Reverse description | Aniconic design mirroring the obverse in overall layout, with concentric circular bands of Kufic Arabic legend surrounding a central raised pellet. The inscription is arranged in two or more registers reading circularly, separated by raised fillets and an outer beaded or dotted border. The hammered flan exhibits the characteristic irregular roundness of South Italian gold coinage of this period. The style is imitative of Fatimid quarter-dinars, adapted for circulation within the Lombard principality of Salerno under Prince Gisulf I. |
