| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged within a rectangular cartouche framed by ruled lines, presenting the Shahada (Islamic declaration of faith): 'There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,' followed by the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs — Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali — in accordance with Sunni Timurid devotional convention. The script is rendered in a bold Naskh hand characteristic of Timurid mint production. The flan is irregularly shaped, as typical of hammered coinage of this period, with the inscription occasionally running off the edge of the planchet. The field is flat with no additional decorative elements, the legends occupying the full extent of the die area. |
