| Description de l’avers | Armored and draped bust of King Władysław IV Vasa facing right, wearing an elaborate royal crown adorned with pearls and crosses, with a prominent ruff collar and richly decorated plate armor visible at the shoulders and chest. A scepter or baton may be held in the right hand. Below the bust, a small escutcheon bears the Vasa dynastic device. The encircling Latin legend reads: VLA IIII D G REX POLO M D LIT RVS PR MA, identifying the king by title and dominion. The portrait is rendered in the vigorous Baroque style characteristic of the Kraków mint engravers of the mid-seventeenth century. |

| Description du revers | Large, elaborate crowned coat of arms of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth quartered with the arms of Poland (white eagle), Lithuania (Pahonia), Sweden (three crowns and lion), and the Vasa sheaf, surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is set within a decorative cartouche. The surrounding Latin legend, divided by the mintmaster's marks B-S flanking the base of the shield, reads: SAM LIV NEC NO SV GOT VAN O HÆ REX C-DC, representing the king's full royal titulature over Samogitia, Livonia, Sweden, Goths, Vandals, and Hereditary claimant. The initials C-DC refer to the mint administrator Claudius de Canotti, and B-S denote the mintmaster at Kraków. |
