| Beschrijving keerzijde | A tall, slender cypress tree rises from a low mound or hillock at the center of the field, serving as a classical funerary symbol of mourning. Flanking the base of the cypress on either side are two symmetrically arranged pyramidal heaps composed of heart-shaped elements, representing the grieving hearts of the people. The legend QVOT FOLIA arcs along the upper field and TOT CORDA appears divided across the center field to either side of the cypress trunk, while LVGENT is inscribed along the lower exergue, the complete motto translating as 'As many leaves, so many hearts mourn.' The design is enclosed within a plain inner border and a reeded outer rim, executed in a refined baroque engraving style. |
