Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Friedrich August I (Augustus II the Strong), Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, wearing a long flowing wig in the baroque court fashion and armored cuirass adorned with an ornate gorget and decorative Order badge at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in high relief with exceptional detail in the hair and drapery. The circular Latin legend runs along the full periphery of the field, divided by the portrait, reading D.G. FRID. AUGUST. REX PO. DUX SAX. I.C.M.A. & W., attributing his titles as King of Poland and Duke of Saxony. The rim is defined by a fine inner beaded border.
