Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Sigismund III Vasa facing right, wearing an ornate closed crown with elaborate scrollwork. The king is depicted with a beard and mustache, dressed in plate armor with a ruffled collar and decorative gorget. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Renaissance style typical of late 16th-century Polish coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery reading SIGISMVN III DG REX PO M D L.
