| Beschrijving voorzijde | Hammered gold flan bearing a bold multi-line Arabic legend in cursive Thuluth and Naskh scripts, arranged in three registers separated by a horizontal rule and enclosed within a plain circular border. The field carries the full royal titulature and mint-date formula of Sultan Suleiman I, struck with the characteristic relief depth of early Ottoman gold coinage. The inscription identifies the ruler as son of Sultan Selim Khan with the pious acclamation 'May he be victorious,' followed by the mint name Damascus (Dimashq) and the AH regnal year 926. The coin exhibits the slightly irregular planchet shape typical of hammered Ottoman sultanis of this period. |
