Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend in bold, deeply struck calligraphy, characteristic of Ottoman hammered gold coinage. The inscription, arranged in horizontal registers within a plain inner border, records the sultan's tughra-style titulature. The date 1078 AH appears in the lower portion of the field in Eastern Arabic numerals. The coin's flan is irregular and slightly lobate, as is typical of hammered Ottoman sultanis of the period.
