| Beschrijving keerzijde | Hammered gold reverse featuring a densely packed multi-line Arabic calligraphic field inscription in thuluth script, enclosed within a dotted border at the periphery. The legend proclaims the sultan's glory and divine favour, reading 'Gold striker, the glorious and victorious, in the land and sea.' The script fills the entire flan with bold, interlocking letterforms characteristic of Ottoman sultani reverses of this period. No figurative imagery is present, in keeping with Islamic numismatic convention. The irregular flan edges are typical of hand-struck Ottoman gold coinage of the early seventeenth century. |
