| Beschrijving voorzijde | Hammered gold flan of irregular round form bearing a multi-line Arabic calligraphic legend filling the entire field, executed in bold thuluth script. The central inscription names the sultan and his lineage, reading 'Sultan Ahmed bin Mehmed Khan, may he be victorious.' The lower portion of the field carries the mint name and AH date 1012, identifying the Damascus mint. The legend is contained within a dotted border running along the coin's periphery. The overall design is characteristic of early Ottoman sultani coinage, with tightly interlocked script occupying virtually the entire flan. |
