Scattered pellet stops punctuate the inscription throughout the field. |

Ahmed I came to the throne at fifteen, and his early coinage reflects the administrative continuity of the Istanbul and Misr mints rather than any decisive break with his predecessor Mehmed III. What distinguishes his sultanis is the regnal year reckoning anchored to his accession in 1012 AH — the first years of issue predate his controversial decision to spare his brothers, effectively ending the Ottoman practice of fratricide at succession, a dynastic shift with consequences that would haunt the empire for generations.
