The letters are rendered in angular Roman capitals, somewhat crudely cut, and may be read in various orientations owing to the variable die alignment of this issue. A beaded border or dotted inner circle partially frames the design. The overall style is consistent with the degenerate engraving conventions of mid-period Northumbrian styca production. |
