Each quadrant is further defined by a small beaded arc or inner circle segment at the cross junction. The surrounding Latin legend MON ETA SER ENE, broken across the four quadrant spaces, identifies the mint of Serain. The entire design is contained within an outer beaded border and the characteristic irregular flan edge of a hand-hammered medieval coin. |
