Obverse description Facing crowned royal effigy depicted en face within an inner pearled circle. The bust is rendered in a stylized medieval manner characteristic of hammered sterlings of the period. The sovereign's crown is prominent, and the portrait is surrounded by the Latin legend contained between the inner and outer pearled circles forming the border.
